How can I register for the Nest Summer Session?
You can register and purchase your child's slot right here on our website. You can call us on (718) 994-6378 to make an appointment for a site visit. To register in-person a complete application and medical sign by your childs doctor along with a non-refunable deposit of 50% to hold your child's space.
What is your masking policy at the summer session?
Nest Music strictly follows NYS Dept. of Health guidelines and all students will be asked to wear masks during transport on trips, and in any in-door areas. Staff will be asked to wear masks at all times.
What is the program's vaccination policy?
Nest Music encourages vaccinations for COVID, but will not enforce a vaccination protocol unless enforced by NYS Dept. of Health. All staff must be vaccinated fully before sessions begin.
Students are considered vaccinated by the Nest when parents provide a copy of their COVID vaccination card with their medical forms which is due before they can start the summer session. Vaccination cards are important, but students that don't take them for various reasons may attend sessions (parents must provide a letter with a reason why their child can not be vaccinated) and maybe be excluded from certain summer trips due to the venue requiring a COVID vaccination card.
What if my child was exposed to someone with COVID?
Nest Music follows New York State Department of Health guidelines. If your child is exposed and needs to be quarantined due to not being vaccinated, you must do so. Students who are vaccinated, and have their vaccination cards on file, may return to camp but must follow NYS Dept. of Health guidelines in terms of wearing a mask.
What if my child is demonstrating symptoms at camp?
A child with symptoms of coughing, sneezing, sore throat, headache, etc will not be permitted to attend the summer session. Parents will be given a home Covid test and are required to show a negative result and/or clearence from their child's doctor.
What if my child has an IEP in school?
Parents with children with IEP must make the program aware during the registration process. Failure to disclose this information may result in removal from the summer program. Our staff can review the IEP with you and discuss the needs of your child and work with you to provide real outcomes for your child's learning experience at Nest Music.
What is your background in music and music education, Ms. Kenya?
Ms. Kenya has been playing and performing musically for twenty years. She's been teaching music for more than ten years. In 2005, she was a finalist in the New York State Music Association Competition. She played and performed on a professional level with her band of eight years with her band Byrds on a Wyre, and I've also worked on various projects such as Band Mockcee Momma, American Idol and America's Got Talent.
What are the enrollment requirements?
- We require parents to provide state or federal identification.
- A medical form completed by the child's doctor.
- A completed application/contract and enrollment fee.

- Early Early-Bird- a savings of $100 if you register before 2/15.
- Early-Bird-a savings of $75 if you register before 4/15.
- Siblings discounts of $50 after one child is registered.

What's a typical daily schedule?
- 8:00 am to 9:00 am Check-in (breakfast Time)
- 9:00 to 9: 45 am morning roll-call & group activity
- 10:00 to 10:45 am Morning Song & mediation.
- 11:00 to 11:45 am Guided Active learning (brand building)
- 12:00 to 1:00pm Lunch
- 1:00 to 2:00 pm Economy Discussion
- 2:15 to 3:00 pm Dance / Physical Expression.
What are some of the key areas that your curriculum focuses on?
The key focus of our curriculum is music. Through lessons in instrumentation, meditation, and expression, students are able to use the skill they learn to apply it to their personal lives and academic careers. We've recently added problem-solving though lessons in coding and entrepreneurship.
What is the minimum age to enroll?
The minimum age requirement is five years old and children must be able to walk for distances of 2 miles and use the bathroom on their own without assistance.
What is the Nest Music Conservatory backstory?
The Nest Music Conservatory was Ms. Kenya's idea and it all began with the love and the joy of playing music. The conservatory was named after her band; Byrds on a Wyre. Our vision is to cultivate positive experiences in the lives of children. Through the creation, cultivation and the sharing of music, we hope to instill a sense of good morals and values for the students who participate in our programs.
